Function description
As a kitchen assistant, you will mainly be responsible for the cold side of the kitchen. You will prepare dishes independently and help ensure smooth kitchen operations during service. Your tasks include:
- Preparing cold dishes and supporting general kitchen operations
- Independently preparing meals according to recipes and presentation standards
- Assisting with tapas, burgers, salads, pasta dishes, and classic meals
- Keeping the kitchen clean and organized
- Following hygiene and food safety regulations
- Working together with the kitchen team during busy services
Offer
Salary:
min €16.5 per hour
- Starting salary of €16,50/hour with possible increase after positive evaluation
- Full-time position in a lively restaurant environment
- Usually no split shifts — only exceptionally
- Early shift: 08:30–16:30 / Late shift: 15:00–23:00
- Every week either Saturday or Sunday off, plus one extra day off during the week
- Varied job with responsibility and independence

We are recruiting a kitchen assistant for a popular restaurant located on the main market square of Ypres. You will join a motivated and energetic team in a dynamic kitchen where quality, teamwork, and passion for food are important. The menu includes tapas, burgers, pasta dishes, salads, and classic Belgian dishes.
Requirements
- Experience in a kitchen environment is a strong plus
- Ability to work independently and take responsibility
- Passion for cooking and motivation to learn
- Flexible attitude and willingness to work weekends
- Good stress resistance during busy service moments
- English-speaking candidates are welcome
- Positive mindset and strong work ethic
- Important: Candidates will first complete a few trial days to check if there is a good match with the team and the job.
